City of New Rochelle Storm Update

Residents urged to prepare for potential flooding, high winds

Hurricane Irene is now predicted to affect our area late Saturday evening. Residents are urged to prepare in advance of the storm by obtaining any necessary supplies and securing outside property.

Please note the following preparedness details:

Residents in flood prone and low-lying areas are at risk of being cut off from essential services should roads become flooded. Please monitor emergency communications and prepare for evacuation if necessary. The time for relocation is BEFORE the storm begins.

SHELTERS: Albert Leonard Middle School, 25 Gerada Lane, will be opened by the Red Cross as an emergency shelter beginning at noon on Saturday for those in need of temporary relocation.

Vehicles may be moved off street to any City-owned municipal parking lot. Parking enforcement has been suspended citywide beginning Saturday morning.

The City will continue sending updates via Cablevision Channel 75 and FIOS Channel 28, the City website at, Facebook, Twitter, and automated phone and email messages.
