End Human Trafficking Once And For All


Assemblywoman Paulin is absolutely correct here – Human Trafficking is a horrible and evil crime. It is incredibly sick to see that this form of human slavery exists in our society. The federal and state governments should continue to pass powerful laws with very long prison sentences to punish the pimps and other criminals involved is these human rights abuses and make sure this is a priority for police and prosecutors. We also must make sure that the victims get the services they need.

I had intended to write this earlier in the weekend but I wanted to give it a bit more thought. What is “it”? It is the issue of Human Trafficking. I have written about this before and spoken about it at length on many occasions and at many venues, including the Assembly floor.

What sparked this particular blog entry was the luncheon I attended Friday that was sponsored by the Scarsdale League of Women Voters. The guest speaker was Emily Amick, a good friend who works for Sanctuary for Families. They are a remarkable group that, among other things, helps the victims of human trafficking.
